In his backyard one day, seven-year old Steve Kommor made an exciting discovery! He unearthed a bag of Buffalo Head Nickels and Indian Head Cents. This discovery spurred Steve’s lifelong love of coin collecting. By the time Steve went to college, he was buying and selling coins at regional coin shows.
In 1980, he finally opened the doors to his own coin shop, Cherokee Coins and Jewelry. Over the years Steve has built a national reputation as a trusted coin dealer. His annual visits to the Orlando FUN show are the highlight of the year as he connects with other like-minded collectors.
Steve’s business partner is also his wife, Susan. Susan serves as COO, overseeing the website, marketing and communications. Susan brings expertise in financial planning and sales to her position at Cherokee Coins and Jewelry.
Looking forward, Steve says that coin collecting is just as exciting today for new collectors as it was for him as a child! The aesthetic beauty and history of each coin brings joy to the buyers and sellers alike!
Although we prefer to meet each of our customers in person so we can get to know them, our online store is a great way for collectors to expand their collections. A friendly advisor, Steve welcomes customers to come back again and again to share their passion for collecting!
